You will also manage the design and/or development of solutions that allow any data related outputs produced by the NFCC to be utilised by fire and rescue services.

You will work with the Head of Analysis and Insight to develop and improve consistent and robust processes for the data analysts to follow and you may at times be required to deputise for the Head of Analysis and Insight.

Assist in the management and delivery of our protection and building review activity that is essential and an area of high priority for the Service.

Assess the design of new or extended buildings against the Building Regulations through statutory consultations with external stake holders.

Take a lead role in the development and mentoring of new staff in the department including the quality assurance of their work as well as that of competent Fire Safety Inspectors.

You may be required to deliver fire safety training to our operational firefighter teams.

What Are We Looking For?

This role will be perfect for you if you are passionate about fire safety and are motivated by what you can bring to ECFRS and the people of Essex.

You will have experience of managing your own workloads as well as managing and being part of a team. You must have excellent time management and prioritising skills as you will be required to meet statutory deadlines.

We would love to find someone that has strong interpersonal skills and experience of working with people from all walks of life with an aim of achieving a common goal.

You will be required to attend formal courses both in person and remotely. It is a requirement that you will sign a pre-learning agreement prior to undertaking any formal training.

Eligibility

Substantive Watch Manager B (substantive status applies to Grey Book only)

Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety and deemed fully competent thereby having a comprehensive understanding of fire safety regulation, risk reduction and relevant guidance and can competently apply this to the premises which fall within their remit.

Experience of liaising with the public, partners and internal stakeholders, and providing professional advice.

Internal candidates, no current live disciplinary or performance warnings, nor are you subject to any informal management for reasons of conduct or performance.

Have a valid and current FiTech of 42 VO2 max, or be actively engaged in a programme of fitness agreed under the Fitness policy (Grey Book only).

A valid Incident Command Verification Level 1 (Grey Book only).

The Role
An excellent opportunity for a Fleet Engineering Manager has arisen within the Fleet Services Department at Essex Fire and Rescue. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience of fleet maintenance, procurement process and legislation governing fleet operations. The core responsibilities of the role will be to work alongside internal and external stakeholders to ensure new vehicle spec meets end users’ requirements within legal and budgetary stipulations. There will also be a requirement to lead projects and explore market opportunities. Ensuring the current fleet meets the needs of Essex Fire and Rescue the successful candidate will be responsible for the campaign checks and modification instruction delivering this in tandem with the Equipment Workshop Manager and Workshop Manager. As a member of the site management team, you will have a key role in supporting the daily operations and planning for future projects, whilst displaying the key values and behaviours of Essex Fire and Rescue Service.

What You Will Be Working On
To be responsible for specifications and contract documentation for new vehicles and equipment and to ensure that the appropriate EU and UK procurement legislation and administrative procedures are completed, and they meet operational requirements.

To develop servicing and maintenance standards to meet “Best Practice” and to direct and monitor the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment to achieve the most cost effective and timely completion of the activity

Oversee project and programme work in relation to fleet management issues and lead projects to explore market opportunities to enhance or reduce the equipment requirements.

To be responsible for warranty procedures regarding Fleet Assets, liaising with manufacturers and suppliers.

To improve engineering standards within the Service and to provide engineering advice so that the Service can make the optimum use of any available technology, ensuring that the technical complexity and electronic development of the modern vehicle is maximised

Work to support the procurement process of new vehicles and equipment for Essex Fire and Rescue.

What Are We Looking For?
The successful applicant will have experience of Fleet Operations, procurement and maintenance, with a recognised certification in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent. They must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to develop constructive working relationships. They will be proficient in assessing problems and determining the most appropriate action and will be able to demonstrate that they support change in a positive and constructive manner.

The Role
Now is an ideal time to come and join our busy Equipment Workshop within the Essex Fire and Rescues Fleet Services Department. We are looking for a highly motivated individual experienced in running workshops to join our existing team to ensure the smooth running of our Equipment Workshop. The main part of the role will be running and planning the day-to-day activities for the team of engineers who work both in the field on station and in the workshop. The job will also involve working closely with the Vehicle Workshop Manager to ensure efficient and effective use of resource to keep all equipment maintained and serviced to the required high standards. There will also be an element of working alongside the Technical Services team supporting the procurement of new equipment as and when required. What You Will Be Working On
Manage the day-to-day Equipment Workshop activities in relation to equipment maintenance and repair.

Ensure that Workshop Equipment is regularly inspected, maintained, repaired and where necessary calibrated and certified

To be responsible for the output and performance against KPIs for the, Equipment workshop

Ensure that the full documentation is provided to the customer’s requirements. Organise work to ensure optimum workshop loading, so that staff are effectively employed.

Cross-work with other departments where required to support the site management team and assist with holiday cover of those departments.

Work closely with the Technical Services team to ensure that present and future equipment and budgetary requirements are met.

Provide leadership, management and development to support team members to perform their roles competently and achieve team objectives or targets

Promote the Health and Safety culture within the workshops by ensuring that Service regulations or recommendations are followed by staff or visiting contractors.
