As strategic lead and portfolio manager for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), this post will deliver strategic assurance for the EDI performance measures through reports, meetings and the management of the EDI and Positive Action strategy.

The postholder will provide specialist advice and guidance relating to EDI to all departments and be the lead point of contact for related matters, including Positive Action.

The postholder will provide a clear strategic vision for EDI in Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service by aligning external governance priorities in the fire service sector such as HMICFRS and National FCC with internal service priorities locally, adapting to change when circumstances require it.

The postholder will manage the EDI team to create and deliver training plans and resources to support progress across all departments relative to departmental needs and overall equality objectives for the service.

The postholder  will lead on the compliance workstreams relating to EDI matters, such as the Public Sector Equality Duty and Equality Impact Assessment quality assurance, working closely with HR and Organisational Development to deliver specific positive action activities within a wider inclusive attraction, recruitment, retention, and progression process for all.

The Service has a long track record of visible commitment to equality diversity and inclusion issues.  While this has been well recognised, we consider EDI to be a journey, not a destination and we want to drive further progress in creating a more inclusive organisation, with a much more diverse workforce, and with all staff positively engaged via a continuously improving employee experience.

Are you a skilled project manager with a passion for emergency planning? We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and dynamic individual to join the London Resilience Group.

London Resilience Group is at the heart of multi-agency emergency planning and large-scale incident response in London, supporting and leading a partnership of over 200 organisations.

As a Resilience Officer, you will leverage exceptional project management skills to drive emergency preparedness activities. You will have responsibility for interpreting relevant legislation and guidance and bringing in industry best practice to drive aspects of emergency planning. Working with partner agencies, your expertise will support the preparation, response and recovery phases. This post will also work as an on-call supervisor within the response team, supporting the duty manager.

You should have experience of working in complex partnership environments and excellent project management, organisational and analytical skills to effectively manage competing deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are vital to convey complex information clearly. Experience of leading project work and response teams would be advantageous, as would knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act (2004) and the UK Government Resilience Framework.

You will be required to participate in training and scenario exercises to ensure competence and readiness as on on-call Supervisor. For this an allowance, currently, £4,477 is paid to staff at this level on the on-call rota.

We are seeking to employ a friendly, reliable, and efficient person to join our office team as a Finance Manager – System Implementation.

The role

As a Senior Accountant – Systems Implementation, you will be responsible for:

Assisting in the delivery of the new finance system implementation, working with the Project Senior User (Assistant Director of Finance), third party resources and internal stakeholders on system configuration, testing, implementation and change management.

Provide general senior level support & oversee the running of accounting, accounts payable, financial reporting activities (including month end and year end).

Assist in the delivery of year end financial statements preparation, including preparing working papers and liaising with external auditors.

Overseeing the monthly close, review Balance Sheet recs, review monthly finance packs, review weekly & monthly standard reports.

Oversee the internal audit programme of the Service and monitoring of internal audit recommendations for reporting to various boards.

Management of the capital programme, liaising with budget holders for updates and reporting at board level.

Support ad-hoc finance activities regarding business support & analysis & support, statutory compliance & reporting and any process change implementation.

Lead the quarterly reforecasting and expected annual outturn, reporting the movement with supporting reasons and highlight possible solutions to bring budget back in line.

Work with the budget holders Interpret and interrogate the financial performance and document reasons for variances, discussing options to remedy the situation where required including financial implications.

You will advise, influence and challenge the budget holders on financial decisions and ensure that such decisions are made in line with the Service’s strategic goals and objectives.

Tracking the earmarked reserve releases and ensuring all decision sheets are being captured and reported.

Community Safety Manager

LFR are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking individual to lead our dedicated team of Community Safety Advocates and prevention department. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of our community safety strategy and delivery plan. They will focus on our communities, ensuring we provide relevant and person centred support, with an aim of keeping communities safe and well.

Fire and Rescue play a key role and are at the heart of communities, with the individual being responsible for developing partnerships to ensure our reach and support are maximised.  Innovation and imagination will need to be strengths of the individual applying for the role as we look to develop community engagement plans.

Communication and engagement with members of the public and other departments within the Service will form a significant part of the role, as well as working closely with colleagues in the Community Safety team.

LFR’s Community Safety Department are committed to promoting the safety, health and wellbeing of Lincolnshire’s communities. Work will also include development and delivery of specific community safety initiatives and projects, including tobacco control, arson reduction, road and water safety.

A dynamic leader will work within the community safety department and look to ensure delivery is integrated across the Service.  Linking with partners and developing our volunteer network to further support those hard to reach and underrepresented groups across the county.  An important part of the role will be to develop positive working relationships with individuals and groups. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A flexible approach to service delivery will be required with an expectation of developing new and innovative ways to deliver community safety activities. The individual will need to lead from the front and demonstrate a person centred approach to service delivery.

The London Fire Brigade is actively seeking Trainee Fire Safety Advisers to work across London, with opportunities available in both service delivery and centralised teams within the Prevention and Protection (Fire Safety) Department. As a Fire Safety Adviser, you will:

• utilise your communication skills to collaborate with a range of businesses and organisations, identifying potential hazards and breaches in Fire Safety Law
• consider and technically review fire safety design for all premises types, engaging with stakeholders as necessary
• support operational staff based on fire stations and in other areas of the brigade by improving their awareness of fire safety regulation
• provide fire safety advice to members of the public
• work both independently and as part of team
• keep up to date with the latest in building safety legislation and standards, understanding legislative changes, with access to qualifications to applicable to your role

We are looking for:

• a reasonable level of physical fitness and mobility*

*as you will be required to conduct thorough inspections of entire buildings, carrying equipment as necessary. This may involve travelling around the surrounding areas and thoroughly reviewing internal building structures.

To enable you to fulfil the duties of this role you will be provided with:

• Initial comprehensive technical training**
• Level 3 and Level 4 Certificate in Fire Safety.
• Ongoing formal qualifications and training packages
• Uniform and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

**NB, Attendance is required on a full time basis during the initial training period (22 weeks) irrespective of job share opportunities.

Assessment Overview
Stage 1

Online application, CV and selection criteria evidence (sift). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to stage 2.
