The Role 
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy and dynamic team at a pivotal moment in its development. Our Operational and Community Risk Team act as a vital link between our central Prevention team and our Response teams on station. As one of the Community Safety Officers in the team you will be responsible for planning and delivery of engagement activity with our Communities, Stations and Partner agencies, exploring new risks and monitoring existing risk. This will include fire safety visits at homes and other premises, planning and implementing monthly media campaigns and initiatives and coordinating activities following an incident. 
 
This role provides fantastic opportunities to work alongside a wide range of other departments and agencies both internally and externally on a day-to-day basis. All of this provides an unapparelled depth of exposure, knowledge and understanding of the Fire and Rescue Service and the wider environment in which it operates

Community Safety Advocate

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Community Safety Advocate.

The post is based in Inverness Community Fire Station, but there will be an expectation for the postholder to travel to identified stations (Wholetime and On Call) alongside community hubs within the Highland LSO Area.

This is a part-time opportunity, working 25 hours per week, however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.

The Community Safety Advocate will be part of the LSO Area Community Action Team (CAT) with a requirement to assist in the delivery of the objectives outlined in the Prevention and Protection (P&P) Strategy, Local Fire Plans, Local P&P plans, Local Outcome Improvement Plans, Thematic Action Plans. Activities to be undertaken include identifying, engaging and educating individuals and communities at an increased risk of fire. Partnership working will be a key element of the role in order to raise fire risk awareness and generate high value HFSV referrals. Advocates will be required to support thematic areas of work including road safety, working with children and young people, and engaging with older persons and water safety.

Candidates must have experience of working as part of a team, with excellent time management skills and sound communication skills, both written and verbal and must possess organisation and prioritisation skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision. The candidate must be confident when delivering information to a large volume of adults and children as required by the role. The successful candidate must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and also possess a full driving license. Candidates will require to pass an ICAT basic and will be placed onto a series of courses including British Sign Language, Naloxone, fireskills, FSSE, Safeguarding training and other partnership courses relevant to the role in the Highland area.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review – in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements.  A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.

Firefighter Transfer Pool

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is committed to keeping our communities safer, and we need exceptional people to help us do that. Our Service is undergoing a significant period of change designed to improve efficiency, further empower managers and allow us to better support the communities we serve. 

We are seeking applicants for our Firefighter Transfer Pool. To be eligible to apply you will be able to demonstrate that you are a substantive and competent Firefighter and you are maintaining your Firefighter competencies in line with the attached guidance document.

Business Fire Safety Inspector (Building Safety Regulator)

An opportunity has arisen within the Protection Department of South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue for a Business Fire Safety Inspector (Building Safety Regulator).

The overall purpose of the role will be to contribute to the risk reduction aims and objectives of South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, and the discharge of its statutory fire protection duties and responsibilities by:

·         Undertaking regulatory fire safety audits, and related activities,

·         Providing fire safety advice, guidance, engagement and technical support, as well as

·         Supporting the Building Safety Regulator in carrying out their duties under the Building Safety Act within the Yorkshire and Humber Region.

To be considered for this role you must have the Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (or equivalent), or the Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety (or equivalent) and be willing to work towards the Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety.

The key duties will include:

·         Undertaking fire safety audits in buildings regulated by the Fire Safety (Regulatory Reform) Order 2005

·         Assess ‘Building Regs’ submissions for Gateway 2 projects involving code compliant designs (e.g. ADB, BS9991) and to identify designs that require assessment by a fire engineer.

·         Inspect sites during construction to advise on fire safety matters as part of the Gateway Process.

·         Inspect sites on completion of construction work to advise on satisfactory installation and commissioning of fire related systems (Gateway 3 work).

·         Inspect existing occupied buildings to advise on fire safety matters within the safety case regime.
