Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) are welcoming applications for the post of Fire Control (Firefighter) for two permanent positions that have become available.

The post will require the successful candidate to work within a small team, they need to be able to think fast and be confident within the busy working environment of Fire Control.  Along with providing advice and support to members of the community, to aid survival of an emergency event, the individual will also be determining, supporting and maintaining the response of the emergency service.

We’re looking for a level-headed, enthusiastic and proactive individuals, preferably with experience of working in a call taking environment with the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Whilst this can be a very challenging role, it is also an immensely rewarding position.

Once you have completed your initial training, you will begin the development phase.  This will allow you to apply your new knowledge, understanding and skills to real life incidents, with an end point assessment which will deem you eligible to move from the development stage to competent.

Assisting with mailbox management, escalating queries to the relevant member(s) of the Admin & Secretariat team as well as other NFCC colleagues.

Supporting staff across the NFCC with the formatting, standardisation, proof-reading and distribution of documents in-line with NFCC guidelines.

Aiding the Admin & Secretariat team in their management of various platforms and databases including our communities platform and membership database. Creating new user accounts and subject matter groups as well as handling queries, handling membership forms and handling requests.

Assisting with the maintenance of distribution lists and contact sheets.

Maintaining and updating trackers, distributing to the relevant contacts where required.

Ad-hoc secretariat support where required.

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) is pleased to invite applications for the role of Crew Commander. HWFRS is a forward thinking and dynamic organisation looking for talented, positive and inspirational individuals to join our team across locations stretching east to west from the Cotswolds to the mid-Wales border, and from the Wyre Forest National Nature Reserve in the north, to the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in the south – with the Malvern Hills AONB right at the heart of the two counties.

Our stations are crewed by a mix of Wholetime and On-Call Firefighters, supported by Fire Control staff and Support Staff.  We attend just over 6,500 incidents each year – more than 125 incidents every week – including property and countryside fires, RTCs and water and animal rescues, sometimes assisted by our USAR colleagues.

Eligibility to apply

In order to apply, you must meet the following criteria at the point of application:

  • Be a competent UK Local Authority Wholetime or On Call Firefighter (or role above)
  • Be eligible to live and work in the UK without restrictions
  • Have had an appraisal in the last 12 months
  • Not have any live formal disciplinary sanctions

  • Be medically fit to undertake the role (current fitness test and 3 yearly medical)

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) is pleased to invite applications for the role of Watch Commander. HWFRS is a forward thinking and dynamic organisation looking for talented, positive and inspirational individuals to join our team across locations stretching east to west from the Cotswolds to the mid-Wales border, and from the Wyre Forest National Nature Reserve in the north, to the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in the south – with the Malvern Hills AONB right at the heart of the two counties.

Our stations are crewed by a mix of Wholetime and On-Call Firefighters, supported by Fire Control staff and Support Staff.  We attend just over 6,500 incidents each year – more than 125 incidents every week – including property and countryside fires, RTCs and water and animal rescues, sometimes assisted by our USAR colleagues.

Eligibility to apply

In order to apply, you must meet the following criteria at the point of application:

  • Be a competent UK Local Authority Wholetime or On Call Crew Commander (or role above)
  • Be eligible to live and work in the UK without restrictions
  • Have had an appraisal in the last 12 months
  • Not have any live formal disciplinary sanctions
  • Not be in a formal capability process
  • Be medically fit to undertake the role (current fitness test and 3 yearly medical)

Positions are available in a variety of functional and station based roles with a variety of duty systems on offer.  Duty systems include the 7 day Flexi-Time System (42 Hour Day Duty), 12-Hour Day Duty System, and Wholetime 224 Duty System.

·       You will manage stock levels and provide administrative support to colleagues across the organisation in delivery of their prevention duties.

Essential requirements: We are looking for an individual who has previous experience of providing varied administrative support to a team; is proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and has good keyboard skills.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and to maintain confidentiality.

Working within the Prevention Department you will be a good team player and also able to work on your own initiative.  You will be dealing with confidential data so will need to pay close attention to detail to ensure records are accurate and maintained to a high standard.

You will need a good level of Numeracy and Literacy skills alongside strong organisation skills and the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.

Postings for specific Stations will be offered after your successful interview, approximately 6-8 weeks prior to the course. You will have the opportunity to request your preferred Station Posting, we can’t guarantee we’ll be able to offer you your first choice.

Training Course: Wholetime recruits course runs over a 13-week period. This is a residential course at our NYFRS Training Centre in Easingwold. Ensuite bedrooms are provided and there is also an On-site Gym and Canteen. Candidates are expected to be onsite Monday to Friday – weekends you can return home.

Eligibility

Driving License: All applicants must have a Full UK Driving License.
Swimming Ability: Applicants should be able to swim 100m unaided and tread water for 30 seconds.
