An opportunity has become available to join Operational Resilience in the role of an Operational Resilience Project Officer. Working in a busy team, you would be responsible for developing and delivering effective project management documentation and management support to workstreams and key projects including MTA within the department, ensuring that project management principles are implemented and providing monthly status reports for specific projects as well as providing effective project management to the development of department projects and workstreams. This post holder is to liaise effectively with key stakeholders, including emergency services partners and local government.

Good communications and interpersonal skills are essential in order to deal with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders as part of the department’s key projects. The successful candidate must also be able to manage, plan and organise their own work and manage team members to ensure that departmental and directorate deadlines are met through the delivery of project coordination and reporting and have a good understanding of project management principles. They must have previous experience and involvement in the management of projects and co-ordinating a range of functions including managing and developing project plans.

We are currently recruiting for a Resource Support Officer. We are looking to increase our Resource Management Team (RMT) and applications are invited from individuals who are suitably qualified to work within a busy Resource Management environment. The purpose of this role is to provide support to the team and the RMT Station Commander by assisting in the management of operational resourcing and provide a link between Operational Stations, Thames Valley Fire Control (TVFC) and our Duty Officers.

The role will also include:

An opportunity has arisen within our Business Fire Safety team for a Business Support and Training Officer, based at the Training and Development Centre, Sheffield.

The overall purpose of the role will be to raise awareness of fire safety risk in the business community, by providing fire safety advice, support and guidance through a variety of platforms, including seminars and training events.  This will also involve establishing good working partnerships with both local and national regulators and partner agencies, to further reduce risk in the community and promote fire safety.

You will be responsible for developing the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue (SYFR) Primary Authority Partnerships by proactively establishing and supporting businesses seeking to form partnerships, working to determine solutions and interventions in coordination with Primary Authority partners and other Fire and Rescue Services.

In addition to this, your role includes supporting the Training and Governance Manager in identifying training opportunities to develop staff, and opportunities to engage with the wider business community, to assist SYFR in achieving areas of service improvement.

To be considered for this role you will have previous experience of working as part of a team, providing mentoring, training and support to staff in development in order for them to acquire sound learning and encourage their individual development.

You must possess the Level 4 Fire Safety Diploma and be willing to work towards the Awarding, Education and Training Level 3 (AET).

An opportunity has arisen within our Catering Team section for a Catering Assistant, based at Training Development Centre in Sheffield.

The overall purpose of the role will be to undertake the preparation, cooking and serving of food. There will be general kitchen and dining room duties, including cleaning, setting up and clearing away equipment and tables. You will be expected to carry out food safety procedures and recorded results using the relevant documentation. The role will invoke stock recording. The role will include using a till and cash handling and reconciliation.

To be considered for this role you will have previous experience of preparing and cooking food, and working in a canteen or similar environment.

You must possess The Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, and NVQ level 2 Food Preparation and Production

We are currently recruiting for a Cleaner based at our Brigade Headquarters in Aylesbury. The successful applicant will, however, be expected to travel from Brigade Headquarters to other sites in a Service vehicle.

The post holder will carry out cleaning tasks to a high standard, to support the Facilities Team in the delivery of housekeeping summarised as:

  • Carrying out cleaning tasks of designated areas at various locations to the standards expected of the Service
  • Reporting any defects or potential hazards
  • Operation of powered equipment i.e. vacuum cleaner, polisher etc.
  • Duties will include manual handling and lifting when necessary
  • Ordering and stock control of all cleaning materials and items
  • Keeping any service vehicle used in a clean and tidy condition and ensure maintenance schedules are adhered to
