Be a Force for Change. Lead with Purpose. Protect with Pride.
East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (ESFRS) carries out a vital role in public safety. With over 20 fire stations, over 30 fire engines, and a proud team of dedicated professionals, we serve urban hubs including the vibrant City of Brighton & Hove, rural communities, and busy seaside towns — all while tackling a wide range of emergencies to protect lives, property, and the environment.
We’re proud of what we’ve achieved — but we’re not standing still. As we face local and national challenges, and rising public expectations, we are determined to set the standard for a modern, inclusive, and forward-thinking Fire & Rescue Service.

With considerable experience at Group Manager level or above, you can demonstrate strategic thinking, sound decision-making, and a proven ability to deliver challenging and competing workloads. You’ll also bring financial insight, operational experience, and excellent communication skills — particularly in working with councillors, partners, and representative bodies. You will be a skilled and collegiate team-worker, able to develop and drive the focus and performance of your peers.
