Future Firefighter 6-Week Programme
Our Future Firefighter Programme is a free six session programme of events. These events are designed for people who dream of being a firefighter, but who need some help and advice to take the next steps. In these sessions you’ll gain a greater understanding of what it means to be a firefighter, be better prepared for selection tests, and have the confidence to apply for the role of a firefighter
Our positive action programme is for people from underrepresented groups aspiring to be firefighters. More needs to be done in the sector to attract a diverse range of people— especially women and people from minority ethnic groups—to apply for a job as a firefighter.
The programme is open to people aged 16 and over.
Sessions run over six weeks. You’ll learn about the day in the life of a firefighter, the Fire and Rescue Service as an employer, the selection process, fitness standards, and more. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions during the sessions. Get the knowledge you need to take the first steps toward realising your dream job!
Sessions will be led by Women in the Fire Service UK friendly volunteers who are currently serving firefighters and other experts in the UK Fire and Rescue Service.
This programme is open to women, people from minority ethnic groups, LGBTQI+ people, neurodiverse people and persons with disabilities.
This event is a positive action event, to enable us to encourage people from groups that are currently underrepresented in the sector to apply.
