Choose to Challenge

Choose to Challenge is an interactive development session where we will reflect on some real-life scenarios relating to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). The content of this workshop has been developed with middle managers in mind and is based around findings from the HMICFRS State of Fire report. Areas to be discussed include positive action, behaviours in the workplace, banter vs bullying, and impact assessments.

Middle managers are key to changing the culture of the FRS. Without their leadership, strategies to improve the workplace are difficult to implement. We hope to help middle managers recognise the right thing to do in problematic situations, and to realise their pivotal role in ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of the workforce.

These sessions are aimed at all middle managers in any department. This event is open to all genders.

Sessions are facilitated by senior leaders, past and present from the UK Fire and Rescue Service and supported by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Service (HMICFRS) and the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC).

Choose to Challenge is supported by SFJ Awards with a SFJ Awards’ Certificate of Attendance.
