
Developmental role of Fire Safety Adviser to Fire Safety Inspector
1 x Permanent Position – 37 hours per week), the positions will be based at any 1 of 3 work bases, dependant on the Service’s needs (Wellingborough, Kettering or Northampton).
Starting at Grade I (no relevant qualification) rising to Scale J (qualified to L3 Certificate and deemed competent in role and while working towards L4 Dip) rising to K (qualified to L4 Dip and deemed competent in role).
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join their Fire Protection Team. NFRS are developing their Protection Team and are looking for a dynamic individual to support the enforcement of fire safety legislation.
This role is a development position; there is no need for any existing fire safety qualifications.
The candidates will be required to undertake training and gain the Certificate in Fire Safety (auditors) and then advance to the relevant Level 4 diploma qualification in Fire Safety (auditors) and, once competent, move up to the role of Fire Safety Inspector and join the on-call Duty FPO rota.
The successful candidates will carry out a range of activities, including statutory consultations, themed activities, fire safety audits and engagement with businesses across Northamptonshire promoting fire safety standards.
Successful candidates will assess and audit risks associated with fire, give advice on fire safety measures and contribute to fire safety solutions by inspecting premises and plans designed to minimise risks to the community.
You must hold a full, current and valid UK driving licence.
Due to the nature of the work, the role involves climbing stairs / ladders and entering confined spaces etc.
The post will be based within the Fire Protection Team working from Mereway Station Northampton or Northern Accommodation Building Kettering or Darby House Wellingborough, with a countywide remit reporting to the Fire Protection Team Leader.
This role can include working from Police owned buildings; as such it will require the post holder to undergo a Police vetting process, any offer of a position would be reliant upon a satisfactory clearance.
