The Women in the Fire Service National Training & Development Event 2025 brought together firefighters and colleagues from across the Fire & Rescue Service for several days of learning, development, networking and inspiration.
While Women in the Fire Service exists to support and champion women, it was fantastic to welcome so many male allies who share our commitment to creating a more inclusive and supportive Fire & Rescue Service.
For many attendees, the event offered a unique opportunity to be surrounded by women in the service, leaders, mentors and role models. The atmosphere of support, encouragement and shared learning demonstrated the value of creating spaces where people can connect, learn from one another and build confidence.
This year's theme, "Elevate Potential, Inspire Success," was reflected throughout the programme.
Delegates took part in a range of workshops, development sessions and networking opportunities designed to support both personal and professional growth. The event created opportunities to learn from others, share experiences and develop new skills that attendees could take back to their own services.

One of the event's most memorable moments came from keynote speaker Karla Stevenson KFSM, who shared her deeply personal experience of facing cancer and adapting to life with a stoma.
Her story of resilience, courage and determination resonated with delegates and served as a powerful reminder of the strength that exists throughout our profession.
Attendees were also moved by the performance of Trailblazing: Women Have Always Been Firefighters, celebrating the often-overlooked history and contributions of women in the fire service.
The event would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors and partners, who engaged with delegates throughout the event and helped create valuable opportunities for learning, discussion and collaboration.
Their continued support plays an important role in helping Women in the Fire Service deliver events that bring people together and support positive change across the sector.
Alongside the learning and development opportunities, delegates took part in a variety of fundraising activities throughout the event.
Together, attendees, sponsors and supporters raised an incredible £2,715 for The Fire Fighters Charity.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed and helped support the vital work of the charity.
As delegates returned to their services, we hope they did so with new skills, new connections and renewed confidence.
The conversations, learning and relationships built during the event will continue long after the final session ended, helping to strengthen and support individuals across the Fire & Rescue Service.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, presented, sponsored and supported the WFS National Training & Development Event 2026.
Together, we continue to elevate potential and inspire success.
