Behind every emergency response is a fleet of vehicles, equipment and PPE ready to perform when it matters most. As Fleet, Asset and Commissioning Manager, you will ensure Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service has the assets and equipment needed to keep communities safe. This is a key leadership role responsible for fleet strategy, asset management and commissioning activities. Working with colleagues across the Service and Suffolk County Council, you will lead procurement projects, manage contracts and budgets, drive innovation, and ensure vehicles and equipment remain compliant, fit for purpose and ready to support emergency response operations.
Key responsibilities:
– Lead fleet strategy, asset management and commissioning activities.
– Develop vehicle and equipment specifications and manage procurement and contract processes.
– Manage and develop teams across multiple sites, creating a positive and high-performing culture.
– Deliver projects from concept to completion, ensuring objectives, budgets and timescales are met.
– Provide expert fleet advice and support strategic decision-making.
– Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and regional and national networks.
– Monitor revenue and capital budgets, ensuring value for money.
– Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve fleet capability, efficiency and compliance.
What you’ll need:
– Degree-level qualification (Level 6/7) or equivalent; engineering or motor vehicle qualifications are desirable.
– Significant leadership experience with the ability to motivate, support and develop teams.
– Experience of fleet management, procurement, contract management and project delivery.
– Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
– Excellent organisational, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
– A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality services.
