Reporting to the Head of People Services, the Occupational Health Unit Manager will lead the delivery, development and coordination of Occupational Health services across South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, supporting a workforce of approximately 1,700 employees. The role will ensure the Occupational Health Unit operates efficiently, provides timely and clinically informed advice, and supports the organisation’s wider aims around wellbeing, attendance, inclusion, rehabilitation and safe return to work.
The postholder will oversee the day-to-day administration, coordination and operational management of the Occupational Health Unit, including line management of all Occupational Health employees and effective liaison with external Occupational Health, mental health, wellbeing and subcontracted providers.
This is a high-trust specialist leadership role with responsibility for employee wellbeing, clinical governance, confidentiality, service responsiveness, assurance and organisational risk. The postholder will support clear, practical and compassionate advice that enables fair, safe and well-informed decisions by managers and employees.
