Being a Community Risk Delivery Officer
As a Community Risk Delivery Officer, you will be a key member of our prevention team, supporting targeted safety work that protects the most vulnerable people and communities. Your role ensures that the activities of our stations and colleagues directly support the Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP), using community intelligence, risk data and local insight to identify where our work will have the greatest impact.
You will act as the link between operational crews and the Community Intelligence and Partnerships Team, making sure community risk information is collected accurately, used effectively and translated into meaningful prevention activity.
You will represent KFRS as a trusted and professional organisation, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to build strong relationships and share information that improves safety outcomes. This role covers Kent and Medway and may require occasional evening or weekend working to meet community needs.
What you’ll do
Gather and review community information from crews and other sources to identify emerging risks and maintain accurate risk scoring.
Use key datasets such as census and deprivation information to focus prevention work where it will have the greatest impact.
Support colleagues to plan and deliver safety activities aligned with the CRMP, particularly in higher‑risk communities.
Provide guidance and training to ensure community information is collected consistently and understood by colleagues.
Build positive relationships with internal teams and external partners to share intelligence and best practice.
Prepare clear and insightful reports that demonstrate trends, risks and prevention outcomes.
Represent KFRS at meetings, forums and community events.
Maintain your own professional development through training and continuous learning.
What you’ll bring
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with colleagues and partners.
Compassion, empathy and professionalism when supporting people in sensitive or challenging situations.
Confidence using digital tools, including laptops, tablets and smartphones, to complete daily tasks.
The ability to interpret a range of data sources, identify patterns or risks
A proactive approach to learning, personal development and improving the way you work.
Commitment to upholding KFRS behaviours, ethical conduct and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
The ability to work collaboratively as part of a close‑knit team while also managing your own workload.
