London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London’s fire and rescue service – one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We are here to make London a safer city. Employing over 5000 people across our operational team (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer 999 calls), fire safety and our non-operational team (our team who work behind the scenes to support our front-line services, which includes Fleet, IT, HR, Finance, Procurement, Communications team and many more).
We are seeking a Resilience Planning Manager for a key permanent role within Operational Resilience. Reporting to the Head of Business Continuity, Vetting and National Coordination, the post holder will coordinate regional resilience planning and lead on policy development. They should have substantial experience delivering complex, multi‑disciplinary projects from initiation to completion, with the ability to manage risks, interdependencies and changing priorities. The role requires confidence in shaping resilience‑focused initiatives, developing policy, and working effectively with senior stakeholders, partner agencies and cross‑departmental teams. The post holder will also be expected to motivate staff, set priorities and maintain strong working relationships across a wide organisational landscape.
Excellent organisational and analytical skills are essential to manage competing deadlines and solve problems effectively. The successful candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills to convey complex information clearly, build productive relationships and lead or contribute to multiple project teams. Political awareness, sound judgement and the ability to handle sensitive or confidential matters appropriately are critical. The post holder should also have solid knowledge of project management methodologies, budget management, equalities, health and safety, and relevant legislation including data protection and freedom of information.
The role is exposed to sensitive material, necessitating the holder of Security Clearance or the ability to secure it prior to commencing the role.

Assessment Overview
Stage 1

1. Experience of working in project management and planning in a multi-disciplined organisation including developing, monitoring, reviewing, and revising systems to apply this to the function of Operational Resilience and associated projects.
2. Experience of working with a range of internal and external stakeholders including those at a senior level.
3. Good organisational skills and the ability to identify and address changing and conflicting priorities and ability to use own initiative in a diverse range of situations.
4. Political awareness and the ability to deal with sensitive, commercial and confidential matters appropriately; understanding the need to maintain confidentiality including awareness of the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act.
