London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London’s fire and rescue service – one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We are here to make London a safer city. Employing over 5000 people across our operational team (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer 999 calls), fire safety and our non-operational team (our team who work behind the scenes to support our front-line services, which includes Fleet, IT, HR, Finance, Procurement, Communications team and many more).
We are looking for a technically minded individual that is experienced in problem solving within a technical environment and is able to work collaboratively as a team member whilst being forward looking.
The successful candidate will be required to manage appointed suppliers (consultants/contractors) to deliver carbon reduction projects as allocated. The post holder will be expected to manage projects for reducing carbon emissions at London fire stations; This will include preparing specifications for Distribution Network Operator upgrades and EV charging installations and reporting progress on program and spend. The post holder will have overall responsibility of both projects and the program. Working very closely with the Carbon reduction team members to ensure all projects that fall within the programme are on time, within budget and are reported to programme management office.

Eligibility
Possession of a nationally recognised qualification in a construction related discipline and/or relevant extensive experience at an appropriate level and/or specific contractual knowledge/ and or sustainability qualifications.
Assessment Overview
Stage 1

1. Possession of a nationally recognised qualification in a construction related discipline and/or relevant extensive experience at an appropriate level and/or specific contractual knowledge/ and or sustainability qualifications.
2. Has experience of dealing with electric vehicles and alternative fuels for vehicles. Understands the difference between zero at tailpipe technologies and low carbon fuels.
3. Effective oral communication skills in order to liaise, negotiate with staff at all levels as well as external contractors, consultants, representatives of external organisations and members of the public.
4. Awareness of equality issues together with a commitment to ensuring appropriate policies are implemented and adhered to.
