The London Fire Brigade is the busiest Fire and Rescue Service in the UK, taking over 250,000 999 calls a year.
Servicing the nation’s Capital is a task like no other, aside from the many major events that our Control room supports, such as Pride in London, Notting Hill Carnival and the State Opening of Parliament, we respond to calls for help from two major airports, 272 Underground stations, 334 train Stations, 84 hospitals and 8.9 million Londoners. The variety of incidents that we attend is unmatched elsewhere.
We are seeking motivated individuals to step into the role of Assistant Control Commander (ACC) within Brigade Control.
As an ACC, you will play a critical supervisory role in ensuring the effective supervision of control room operations, mobilising resources, and supporting operational response across London. You will lead and support Control Officers in a fast-paced, and high-pressure environment dealing with a wide range of operational incidents.

Eligibility
In order to apply, you must meet the following criteria at the point of application:
Internal applicants: be a current LFB Control Officer and completed your Control Officer Development Pathway
External applicants: be a current substantive Crew Manager or Watch Manager A in a UK Fire and Rescue Control room
Not have any live formal disciplinary sanctions
Not be in a formal capability process
Assessment Overview
Stage 1

Stage 2
Interview and Command Assessment
Interviews for this role will take place on Tuesday 30th June at the LFB Assessment Centre in Hammersmith.
Stage 3
Command Assessments will take place from 1st to 10th July at the London Operations Centre.

Please note: Should you be shortlisted you may need to be able to conduct an interview over Microsoft Teams (a video conferencing service). You will be asked to provide relevant contact details for that to take place if shortlisted.

Criminal records check
In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced check will be undertaken on the successful person before an appointment is confirmed.
