The Role
We have a vacancy for a Fire Ground Resource Manager located at our Training Centre on the Home Office, old MOD airfield site at Wethersfield, Essex. You will be responsible for supporting training delivery by ensuring the resources needed by the training staff are available and in place when required. This will include the upkeep and maintenance of the main training venue located at WTC but also its associated sites located around the county.
What You Will Be Working On
> Lead a small team, adapting support to individual learning needs and driving progress against team priorities, while working independently to complete tasks allocated by management or instructional staff.
> Prepare training venues and materials for both standard and live fire training, including venue setup, light cleaning outside contract scope, and preparing/loading materials such as wood, paper, and kindling in line with loading plans and Risk Assessments.
> Support daily site operations, including ordering materials for courses, handling basic administrative tasks (e.g., emails, defect reporting), registering personnel for site access, and welcoming visitors following correct procedures.
> Operate and manage vehicles and equipment, including Service vehicles and a forklift truck, to move vehicles and transport/load materials, ensuring all relevant licences and renewals (Manual Handling, Table Saw, Forklift, etc.) remain in date.
> Coordinate on‑site activity, working with fire ground assistants as needed and overseeing or facilitating authorised third‑party contractors working at the venue; full training (including forklift and table saw) will be provided
Please note parts of this role are physical in nature and will require you to lift, transport and load large and heavy sections of wood.
What Are We Looking For?
We are looking for a manager that can be self-sufficient and provide support to ensure effective and efficient delivery of all courses held at Wethersfield Training Centre (and its associated sites) by planning and coordinating activity to ensure the site, facilities and practical materials required for courses are in place and fit for purpose.
Eligibility
> Level 2 standard of education – Maths and English GCSE Grade C/4 or above
> Driving licence
