*To ensure compliance with the Emergency Response Driving syllabus there will be occasions when training must be delivered during hours of darkness. This will require flexibility with starting and finishing later than usual, normally once during delivery of a 10-day course.

The Role
As a Driver Trainer with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS), you will play a key role in developing and assessing our people to ensure they can operate and respond safely using the ECFRS fleet of appliances and vehicles.
You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality driver training and assessments, supporting learners at different stages of their development and maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and competence.

What Are We Looking For?
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience in leading others and a strong enthusiasm for operational training, assessment, and development of colleagues. This role focuses on Emergency Response Driver Training and associated training activities, supporting individuals across the Service to develop their competence and confidence.
The successful applicant will be motivated to progress their own career while helping others to develop and will be able to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build constructive working relationships. They will be confident in assessing performance, identifying issues, and taking appropriate action, while supporting changes in service provision in a positive and constructive way.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this role, you must:
Hold an LGV valid licence which you have held for a minimum of 3 years.
Hold a valid manual UK Driving Licence for Category B and C vehicles, which has been held for a minimum of 3 years
Have experience of operating IT systems including Excel and Share Point
Have the flexibility to drive and travel around the County
Hold an Emergency Response Driving qualification

Standard presentation facilities will be supplied – as well as role specific interview which will incorporate Quality Assurance, Safeguarding, Service Values and Behaviours, Code of Ethics and NFCC leadership framework as required in the role.
