London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London’s fire and rescue service – one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We are here to make London a safer city. Employing over 5000 people across our operational team (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer 999 calls), fire safety and our non-operational team (our team who work behind the scenes to support our front-line services, which includes Fleet, IT, HR, Finance, Procurement, Communications team and many more).
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our General Counsel’s Department. We’re looking for a positive, proactive and ambitious person to recruit as a Trainee Solicitor who shares our values, on a 2 year fixed term contract.
The successful candidate will undertake a mix of contentious and non-contentious work to meet the requirements of the Practice Skills Standards. Although the successful candidate will undertake work across several areas including contracts and procurement, commercial property, governance and litigation, the successful candidate will be based predominately in the employment and litigation team and is therefore expected to demonstrate and maintain an interest in litigation during the training period. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who is passionate and committed to working for a public body and serving the London community and has, or will have, successfully completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or SQE 1 and 2, and be ready to commence work full time by 1 May 2026,
Candidates are required to have a 2:1 law degree or above (or a degree in any discipline at 2:1 or above). Non law graduates will be required to have completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Law. Experience of working as a paralegal would be desirable. In the event of a high volume of applicants the LFB will shortlist candidates meeting these criteria.

Criminal records check
